Think And Grow Rich Mindset Mastery

Think And Grow Rich Mindset Mastery

In the mid 1930′s, at about the time that Napoleon Hill was writing his book Think and Grow Rich, someone coined the term “mindset”. Until this time there was no such word in the English language. Mindset is your habitual mental state, your default state. Mindset plays a big part in how you respond to life’s experiences. Mindset is a big factor in the future you create for yourself. Mindset mastery is therefore a useful goal to have if you want to think and grow rich.

What You Think You Create

Our thoughts create our reality. This is probably the most important message that Napoleon Hill gives us  in Think and Grow Rich and his other books including, Laws of Success, and Master Key to Riches. Our mindset has a big influence on the thoughts we create. If our mindset is heavy then we will tend to create a constant flow of negative thinking. If our mindset is lighthearted then we will tend to create a constant flow of positive thinking.

Mindset and Health

In a recent article, Dr. Mercola M.D. talks about how important mindset is. He says that there is a lot of research from many studies that say that a positive mindset will improve the health of the body. He says, for instance, a positive mindset can

  • boost the immune system
  • help protect the body from stressors
  • increase lifespan
  • reduce the risk of stroke
  • reduce the risk of heart attack
  • give better recovery after surgery
  • give better general health and well being
  • increased cell-mediated immunity

So maybe we can not only think and grow rich but also think and grow healthy.

Andrew Carnegie

The man who inspired Napoleon Hill to write Think and Grow Rich was immensely wealthy. Andrew Carnegie made his money from the steel production industry. In today’s dollars he was worth about $300 billion, much richer than Bill Gates. He was a philanthropist and donated most of his money to worthy causes such as public halls and libraries. Influenced by Carnegie, Hill threaded a “hidden secret” through Think and Grow Rich, the secret that will make anyone rich.

Wallace Wattles and Charles F. Haanel

The books of two men are known to have influenced Napoleon Hill in the writing of Think and Grow Rich and his other books. One of these was Wallace Wattles who wrote the book The Science of Getting Rich. Rhonda Byrne, the producer of the movie, The Secret, is also thought to have been influenced by Wallace’s book. The other man to influence Think and Grow Rich was Charles F. Haanel in his book, The Master Key System.

Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill was born in poverty in Virginia, USA, in 1883. He probably would have spent his life in relative poverty, too, had he not come into contact with Andrew Carnegie. Napoleon Hill was a living example of how anyone can turn their life from poverty to wealth by applying the mindset mastery secret contained within Think and Grow Rich.

Interesting article Wal. I knew of some linkage between mindset and health, however did not actually know that there were studies performed on it.

I find that some aspects of Mindset Mastery are easy to master. Some are very difficult. A long way to go, Belinda? Maybe, but you can be nearly there and not realize it.

Wal,

Great list and many I have, another great one to read is “As a man thinketh” which is free at the domain http://asamanthinketh.net a fantastic old classic by James Allen.

He lived not to far from where I grew up. A good book well worth the read. :)

Amazing how the old ones just summed it all perfectly for us, make you wonder what they would make of it all now. :D

I read it many years ago. Thanks, Rob, you have inspired me to pull it out of the bookshelf, dust it off, and read it again. In fact, I might even do a post about it when I have finished.

Great article Wal. I think you can put anything after “Think and ….” …and it can happen. Think and be healthy – be happy – grow rich… it all starts with thought. Of course, thought alone wont win the prize, you’ve got to take action and totally believe that the thing is already yours.

Hi Wal,

as a matter of fact, thoughts are things. They shape our reality and they shape how we view our reality. That means, if we harbour negative thoughts they may or may not manifest themselves in our physical reality. However, with negative thoughts we will look even at opportunity with feelings like “I’m not worth it, it’s too good to be true.” etc.

You are right that these rules not only apply to becoming rich, but also to maintaining health and becoming healthy.

Thanks for sharing your insights.

Take care

Oliver

Yes, Oliver, thoughts are definitely ‘things’. When I was a teenager I proved this to myself after reading a book ‘Magic and Mystery in Tibet’ by Alexandra David-Neel. In this book she describes how she ‘thought’ a companion into existence. This was a thought-form that materialized. I tried the same technique with near-disastrous results. As it became denser it tried to dominate me. In my day to day work I sometimes help people to dissolve their unwanted thought-forms.

finding myself among understandings I arrived at with my spiritual guide as I read “The Path To Divinity” has awakened the sense that I would greatly profit from the sound of Ye’s leading a group in resonating “A-E.” As the book refers to an mp3 online that can be downloaded in order to hear this session I scoured the internet and have come up empty. The disc is formatted and waiting.
In the meantime I continue with this most enjoyable reading. I particularly resonate with the identification of the obsolete words of power and the grander scale of Humanity’s wondrous options detached from the limitations those normally offered for our continual and ongoing evolution. I am experiencing the always more, new and now since 2004 and embrace much of what I am reading already. This has been a huge affirmation, Thank you.
